Portland College: A national residential college for people with a wide range of physical disabilities, providing first class education and training for around 250 students aged between 16 and 60. Portland College is the lead partner in the Portland Partnership.
ESRI – The Ergonomics and Safety Research Institute, at Loughborough University, is responsible for the technical evaluation of the project. They will be reviewing the expectations of the local colleges with regard to the VLE and evaluating the prototype version of the system with tutors and students when it is implemented. This will feed into recommendations for an enhanced system for a follow-on project.
SNCRU – The Special Needs Computing Research Unit at The University of Teesside is an active body of academics, research staff and postgraduate students who have an interest in the use of computers to support people with very individual requirements, whose needs may be a result of physical, sensory or learning difficulties.
ISRG: The Interactive Systems Research Group at Nottingham Trent University heads up the team responsible for producing the assistive technology device. The team also includes The University of Nottingham and Traxsys.
The University of Nottingham's Learning Disabilities team from the Division of Rehabilitation and Ageing form part of the assistive technology development team.
TRAXSYS (previously Penny & Giles Computer Products) has pioneered a number of innovative and award-winning solutions for improved computer access for individuals with special needs. They are part of the assistive technology development team.
CTAD (Cambridge Training and Development Limited) are a leading developer of multimedia resources for adults learning basic and key skills, for adults with learning difficulties and disabilities and for those who work with them. Their multidisciplinary approach combines pedagogy, design and media to produce resources that are fit for purpose and focused on the needs of the learners.
West Nottinghamshire College provides the Partnership with some of its beneficiaries. West Notts College is a Further Education college providing education and training to the community of Mansfield with a strong and effective support for students with learning disabilities and difficulties.
Chesterfield College provides the Partnership with some of its beneficiaries. The college is also a consortium member of TREND (Training Excellence North Derbyshire). Chesterfield College is a Further Education college providing education and training to the communities in North Derbyshire encompassing comprehensive education and training provision for learners with disabilities and/or learning difficulties.
North Nottinghamshire College provides the Partnership witha number of its beneficiaries. North Nottinghamshire College is a further education college providing more than 600 education and training courses in over 60 centres across the area, serving a wide range of needs.
